Acting-Commander Jefferson Hirst Walker, M.V.O., D.S.O., R.A.N. He was a Victorian, born in 1901. He entered the R.A.N. College as a cadet midshipman in December, 1914, and went to sea as a midshipmen in January,1919. He became a lieutenant in November, 1922, lieut.-commander in 1930, and was promoted to Acting Commander last September. He specialised in navigation and during his career served in various Royal Australian Navy and Royal Navy ships. He was District Naval Officer for the Northern Territory on the outbreak of
war. He was awarded the D.S.O. for good service in the present war.
