Mr. and Mrs. R. Kennedy, of Edden street, West Wallsend, have been in formed of the death of their youngest son, Able Seaman Harry Kennedy, as a result of enemy action while serving on H.M.A.S. Australia. He was 23. He was a native of West Wallsend. Leaving school, he was employed in Newcastle and later in Sydney, where he was living at the time of his enlistment in the Australian Navy three years ago.

The Minister for the Navy (Mr. Makin) announced to-day that 10 ratings serving in one of H.M.A. destroyers were lost overboard during heavy weather on the night of February 11 and are missing and presumed drowned.
Expressing sympathy with the next-of-kin. Mr. Makin said that every effort had been made to rescue the men but the weather conditions were such that rescue was impossible. The next of kin of all the missing men had been informed. Two of the missing men were from New South Wales — Able Seaman Alfred George Kerr, and Able Seaman Victor Charles Joseph Keys.
