AB Maurice D. Kirchner, RAN. aged 21 who was killed in action while serving in H.M.A.S. Australia in the Luzon landing, was the younger son of Mr and Mrs E. Kirchner, Pine Lodge, Victoria. He served for seven months in signals at Queenscliff, and enlisted in the A.I.F in December, 1941, being attached to an AA battery. In January. 1943, he transferred to Royal Australian Naval Reserve. He had served in H.M.A.S. Australia for seven months.
