AIRMAN KILLED
SGT. JIMMY STUART.
Dungog was distressed on Sunday when news came through that Sergeant James Stuart, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Stuart, had been killed in an aeroplane accident in England. It was stated that the plane in which he was flying on reconnaissance, struck high ground in bad weather, and he was injured. Death occurred the following day. He had been engaged in flights over Germany and was being given a 'spell' from such operational work.
Jimmy was one of the town's most popular young men. He was proprietor of the Acme Garage before joining the Air Force. He had been a prominent footballer, and was an all round sportsman. His bright and genial disposition appealed to every one. Born in Dungog, he received his education here and at Maitland High School.
His mother was in Sydney when the sad news reached Dungog, and Mr. Stuart, Snr., left immediately for the city to convey to her the heartbreaking message.
In addition to his mother and his father, there survives one brother, Billy, who is also in the Air Force.
To Mr. and Mrs. Stuart and their son, the sympathy of all is extended.
