Honoured Australian War Memorial Panel 129 Tweed Daily (Murwillumbah, N.S.W.) 23-8-1944 Flying-Officer William Patrick Quan, RAAF, son of Mr and Mrs P. J. Quan, of Tygalgah, has been reported missing over Germany. This advice was received yesterday by his parents from the Minister for Air (Mr Drakeford) in a telegram which stated that Flying-Officer Quan had failed to return from, air operations over Germany on Saturday last. This is all the information yet received. Flying-Officer Quan went into camp with the Air Force two years ago. He was trained under the Empire scheme and gained his "wings" in Canada in July last year. At the end of that month he went to England. He received his commission as a pilot-officer prior to D Day and had been since promoted to the rank of Flying- Officer. |

Advice has been received by Mrs A. W. P. Quick, 160 Burke rd, East Malvern, that her husband, Flying Officer Arthur Quick, has been reported missing as the result of a non-operational flight over the Irish Sea on November 5. Flying Officer Quick, who is the eldest son
of Mrs and the late Mr A. A. Quick, of Pender st, Thornbury, was previously with the Shell Oil Co. He returned from Sarawak, Borneo, to enlist in the RAAF in July, 1940, and went to Canada to train in 1941. He had completed his operations as an observer with an Australian Lancaster squadron, and when posted missing was serving in the south of England as an instructor.
