Studio portrait of 421047 Aircraftman (later Flight Sergeant (Flt Sgt)) Jack Ivan Pritchard, 467 Squadron, RAAF, of Wollongong, NSW. A research officer prior to enlistment he embarked from Sydney on 7 December 1941. Flt Sgt was piloting Lancaster NF908 which took off from RAF Waddington on the afternoon of 3 January 1945 on a fighter affiliation training exercise, the aircraft flew into high ground that was shrouded in cloud some 4kms NNE of Leek, Staffordshire. The crew of seven were killed. Flt Sgt was 30 years of age.
