He enlisted In the Air Force at the age of 17 years, and about seven months ago was accepted for the Navy. His death occurred when a Spit fire he was flying crashed into the sea and sank. Previously he was in a big crash in New Guinea, and in two minor mishaps later.

At 7 o'clock on Tuesday night last the sad news came that Sub-Lieut. Neville Stanley Faulks. R.A.N.V.R.. of H.M.S. Implacable, aged 22 years 8 months, lost his life in a flying accident off the coast of N.S.W. ( his father thinks it was off Jervis Bay).

He joined the RAN in March, 1940 , as a blacksmith. His wife and child live at Mornington. Before joining the Navy Art. Fitzgerald played football with Mornington and was also a member of the local fire brigade.
