Plymouth Naval Memorial
Across the seas where the waves ebb & flow
There is no place for poppies to grow
It's the place where our Sailors sleep.

SINKING OF THE CERAMIC:
Lieut, Henke, detailing over the German radio, how his U-boat sank the Ceramic, westwards of the Azores, said the u-boat had to manoeuvre near the Ceramic before simultaneously launching two torpedoes. The attack was so sudden that the troops aboard were unable to reach their boat stations in orderly manner. We took only one survivor aboard, who said that 2000 to 3000 men of British engineer units and naval personnel were aboard the Ceramic. The U-boat fired two more torpedoes before the Ceramic sank.
